I am interested in seeing what we can do with the softa theme to make it more appealing to my members.

Colors I am interested in,

#BD0008 - Red
#C0C0C0 - Gray/Silver

Here is what I did earlier yesterday, but it’s much easier if your the creator to edit things than it is if your me trying to edit someone else’s work.

Where there is blue text, I was going to edit the .css to make it black.  But if I do that, I’ve got to change some other things because you won’t know what color a link actually is.

Anyways, there’s alot of work that needs to be done to get this theme like I’d like to have it and I just wanted to know what the approach should be, maybe a combo approach between you and I?

Hey InsaneMustang,
I am guessing you are talking about global links colors right?
that would be in style.css look for

/* Normal, standard links. */

Or some part such as breadcrumbs/linktree?
find:

/* Navigation links - LinkTree etc. */

Top “tabs” navigation is under
search for:

/*----Top Tab/Nav List----*/

where the only trick is to pay attention to padding if you are using your own images different type of tab…perhaps slanted or something.
So, which part are you after or is it images-color pattern you want to change?
Let me know..screenshot or link wold help. grin

I’m really looking for a color change more than anything.

Also, I hope that you have a test area for this.. you could take your time and do a great job of things, but you need to give a bit more info, for all of the changes you are wanting, besides the font.. unless the font is the only thing that you are wanting changed..  cool smile

I don’t have a “test” area.  I changed the theme just for my personal account on my website, and I’m slowly just editing it as I am going along.

Right now I’m trying to figure out where to put the SMF shoutbox in the code.

Not to mention I still need to get my white images done.

I also don’t know why there aren’t any images for new different forums, you know the ones to indicate if there are new posts or not.

Hey InsaneMustang,
Looks like you are making good progress. Shoutbox code is in there you can see it on temp url of http://mostarnetworks.com/MN/index.php?action=forum.
If you want to change the “gray” (main rounded edges frame) I can five you the PSD file to edit if thats what you consider ‘white’.
And yes, it does take some time to edit/make themes that are unique and different from default….but, ones done, you have a site that feels like Your site wink.
Keep up the good work and post back. Smoky has also done many themes and can definetly pitch in with help if needed.
Images you are missing should be “off.gif” and “on.gif”
This site is still under development so there is not a lot of activity but we are here.
Take care.

Right, I know which files and I know where they are located as far as the folder is concerned, but I can’t figure out why they aren’t showing up?

I like the theme myself.
I was wondering if you could make one for my site with some color changes and added buttons at the top.
I could pay you for this.
Not real good working on the themes myself. I have figured out a few things and thats about it.
I did notice when you get a new post in child boards you get that red error x.

The forum you use here is real nice.
Thanks and good luck with the site.

Hey TheGame,
Thanks for the comments and welcome.
I can look at the “x” missing image issue as I really have not tested it in diff. SMF setups but perhaps screenshot or link would really help.

This site does not use SMF, it was only a few themes I made but really left it at that. Theme here is not my work but thanks, glad you like the forum part. wink

A custom theme is something that I can not commit at this time and feel right about charging for it - but feel free to edit whatever you want.
There is also a member here by name “Smoky“ who has done some themes and has access to original art so perhaps two of your can work something out if you want it customized.
Smoky has the permission to distribute this theme and alter theme copyright.
Sorry to disappoint but this site really is not an “smf “ but rather “web design/dreamweaver” oriented site.
SMF is a cool forum package just that is not the only interest of this small community.

If any of the design concepts interest you then stick around while the site is being developed.
Definitely get in touch with Smoky if you are itching to get this theme converted to your ideas.
Welcome again!
All the best!

That’s the thing.  It’s not currently active on my site, so I can’t really post the code.  I haven’t messed with any of the coding anyways.

Where would the coding for the on.gif or off.gif be?

Thanks

If you can create an account on my site, I will create a board that only you and I can access - then I will make the theme of that board the softa theme and we can look at it there?
