Active Ports - easy to use tool for Windows NT/2000/XP that enables you to monitor all open TCP and UDP ports on the local computer. This was a true gem that I stumbled upon while looking for application with one goal in mind, capture screen colors without having to do screen-shots. I just wanted the colors!
Other option was to take screen-shots and then use some form of image editing software that could sample the color from image. Well, I was lazy and also didn’t want to run a resource hungry application to get this accomplished, especially if I was working on a quick fix of CSS or HTML file.

On top of everything, this application requires no installation and is very portable so throw it on your USB stick or some portable storage device.
Next time your client points to their computer screen and says “I like THAT color“ you can plug-in you flash drive and take a note of it on the spot.
